Our vision

Khanyisa Community Church exists to help build the Kingdom of God. We hope to achieve this through the proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ that brings personal salvation, community building, social justice, church planting and through it, reaching the world.

Community Cell Groups

The most important way to get involved in the life of our congregation is to join a cell group (or CG), where we cultivate a relationship with God and friendships with others.

Kids Ministry

Our goal for the Children’s Ministry at Khanyisa Community Church is to encourage children to grow in the knowledge of Jesus Christ. We also seek to get them to serve and renew their communities through the knowledge and application of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We do this by introducing them to Scripture, teaching them how to pray and worship and facilitating spiritual growth among a new generation in our communities.

In addition to this, the Kids’ Ministry seeks to encourage and support families in their commitment to stay and be engaged in Khanyisa Community Church by facilitating, discipling and offering practical support to them.

Membership and Baptism

At Khanyisa Community Church we believe that to be a member of our church is to make a public promise to live according to the Word and to support the work of our church. This is called a covenant. We view membership not in the same way as joining a social club or an organisation, but by means of a public promise. A public promise, or covenant is the basis for all society according to the Bible: marriage, employment, citizenship and church membership are all relationships of accountability.

Membership in a church is not like membership in a social club or other organization. Most organization members are consumers — the organization exists to serve them. The Church of Christ is a completely different community — membership means ministry and service, going from being a consumer to becoming a provider of God’s love and care to others. At Khanyisa Community Church, we take seriously that we are a church not for ourselves, but for others.

Pastoral care

Pastoral Care Team

Khanyisa Community Church has a strong focus in caring for those who need care and support. Our main vehicle of care and assistance for congregants struggling with challenging or crisis situations is our Pastoral Care Team. This group consists of men and women who have been nominated by the church to reach others who are in urgent need of help. They also receive ongoing equipping for the purpose of coming alongside struggling congregants through loving relationships. The Pastoral Care Team seeks to meet these congregants’ practical, visible needs while also fostering a heart change through encounters with Jesus and one another.

The Pastoral Care Team serves those in crisis or in challenging situations within the Khanyisa Community Church congregation only.

If you are in need of practical help, please call the Pastoral Care Team Helpline listed below, and the one of the team will call you back. You will be asked some basic questions that we ask everyone who calls for assistance so that we can assess how to best help. The information you share with us will be kept confidential.
Services that the Pastoral Care Team offers include:

  • Prayer
  • Meals Ministry
  • Care Groups
  • Food Pantry

This ministry is staffed by a number of volunteers who are motivated by Christian love and compassion. Camps, after school homework clubs, nutrition support, education support, food gardens and skills development initiatives are some of the many ways members of Khanyisa and Christians from other churches reach out to show the love of Jesus to the hurting around us.
